David Part 2

                                  Welcome to my Blog

After some thought and prayer I have decided to do another weeks worth's of devotions on the life of David. If you were here last week, I hope you enjoyed it . maybe you are new, welcome to the family and the Journey we will be on together.

Painting the picture:   From Wilderness  to Kingship

1 Samuel 18 to 2 Samuel 5

David was a young man who just killed the enemy and became Israels hero. What it must of been like to go to live in the palace, from sleeping under the stars and looking after the sheep and then being at the Kings table. Eating fine food and becoming friends with the king's son.
Saul , what a man.He could of had it all,  but chose another way  Saul wanted power and he did not like that David got it. Saul chased David for many years through the wilderness .David  learnt from his Desert experience ( his dark season of the soul) and let Saul live. He could of killed him 2 times ( 1 Samuel 24) and get the throne. David knew that this is not want God wanted and that he was not to touch God''s anointed King .That the throne would be his, so he waited and Gods promises came to pass.

Saturday 18th
 Jealousy Tree  1 Samuel 18 : 6 to 9

Saul could not see past his jealousy towards David, at one time he could. but when did he lostr sight of God,  then the root grew,  and became so big he could not see what he was doing. Where did this come from, Saul was insecure of who he was as a person and King. what about you, any trees that are getting in the way of you and Jesus that need be gently removed.????

Sunday 19th
  On the Run    1 Samuel 19 : 11 to 16
I remember when my son was born I decided with my husbands help I would take up running and excise three times a week. the first time i ran  around where i lived and was back with in 10 Min's and said I would never do it again, too much like hard work. David had no choice, he had to run or he would die. Don't give up on Running for Jesus or you will die spiritually

Monday 20th
Desert times part one  Psalm 84 : 5 to 7
As a Christan you forget  at times what valleys are like,  especially if your world is happy most of the time. but along comes a few bumps and wow the valley has arrived. over the years as a Christan psalm 84 has spoken to me about trials and testings. Sometimes we forget that desert times are where we most grow and they become places where we look back and see that Jesus took us by the hand and lead us through. He did that with David and made him look at things in new ways which helped him when he became King

Tuesday 21th
Desert times part two Psalm 84 : 5 to 7
I remember one time when I was going through a difficult patch  ( dark season of the soul )  going to a prayer meeting with some friends. People prayed for me for strength to get through it. One lady was praying,  she said:  Look ,who is this leaning on her lover out of the desert?  At the time I was like yeah, thanks but that not what I want to hear.  But after a while when I came out the other side I saw that I was leaning on Jesus like never before, He can do that for you.  So what ever valley you are in He can help you get out just hold on tight to your lover and He will lead you through.

Wednesday 22nd
Sensitive heart  2 Samuel 1  all of it

You would of thought that at Saul's death,  David would have cheered and go to be king straight away, but David was not like that. What about people you don't like that have a fall, do you laugh ?and think : serves them right,  or are you a little bit more compassionate.  After everything, Davids heart is still soft and cares for people. Do you need to be a little bit softer towards your enemies??

Thursday 24th
 David becomes King  2 Samuel   5  : 1 to 5

After all this time David becomes king. Wow!  what a journey it has been for him, the ups and downs of life but finally God's promises come to pass. The first thing he does is not throw a big party,  but he wants to honour God . David decides to bring the ark home to Jerusalem. There have been times in all of our lives when God has kept his promises,  and he has come through for us.  Lets remember today to give thanks for His faithfulness to us.

Friday 25th

Jesus is King   Revelation 1 : verse 8
He is My king, I am so glad that I know the Kings of Kings. He sits upon on His throne and not asleep or made of stone but he  is King of Kings.  He loved us very much, He wants to be in touch and He is the King of Kings
( Jayne rhyme)

Have a great week and many blessings
